The River Moy is a mecca for game anglers. The river rises in the Ox Mountains and flows into the sea at Killala. Approximately one hundred kilometres in length with extensive tributaries and drains, the River Moy has a catchment of over two thousand square kilometres. Celebrated for its salmon, the River Moy is also plentiful with sea trout.

The region of the Moy around Foxford is divided among different proprietors and operators. The river is suitable for fly fishing but is more popular for fishing with bait, spinner, bubble and fly.
